What we will be learning this week:
Math: This week in math we will learn to be able to place numbers with two decimals on a number line in order to order these smallest to greatest and greatest to smallest. We will also practice partitioning to solve multiplication problems as we have done in the past, but we will practice this as a mental strategy instead of a written strategy.
Literacy: This week in Literacy we will learn how to write a non-fiction explanation text using the explanation text features discussed in class last week: introduction, action verbs, present tense verbs, subtitles, and time connective words.
IPC: Last week in IPC we analyzed our business survey data to see what products students would be willing to purchase at our Exit Point market. This week we will learn how to make an effective advertisement for our businesses using a set of steps to success developed in class. We will also learn how to package our products so that they appeal to a broad audience.
Spelling: This week in spelling we will continue to learn which words are spelt with 'ie' and which words are spelt with 'ei'. This week's words will be self-selected by students in class on Monday based on last week's test.

- Continue working on your multiplication tables at home. The more you practice, the easier they will become! Use these online flashcards to practice the times table you are on in class: http://www.multiplication.com/games/play/quick-flash-ii
Literacy: This week in Literacy we will learn how to write a non-fiction explanation text using the explanation text features discussed in class last week: introduction, action verbs, present tense verbs, subtitles, and time connective words.
- Reading Challenge: Read an article about anything non-fiction. Bring this article in to share (if you can). We'll ask you questions about the non-fiction explanation text you read. This can count towards your 20 minutes of reading a night.

Additional Announcements:
International Day will be held on Friday, May 22nd. The Year 4s will be making their own version of the song, "Where is the love?" by the Black Eyed Peas. We have analyzed the lyrics as they are and have discussed how we can turn this song into a more positive song about International Mindedness. What would the world truly look like if we were all internationally minded?
The lyrics were sent home on Friday. Your child does not have to change the entire song--for this is a group task! But please help them think about a verse or two that they could change. You can YouTube "Where is the love song lyrics" to find a video. Enjoy!
