Welcome to the new Fox Class Blog! Here you will find what we will be learning each week, pictures and videos of our learning in action, and information about upcoming events. If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected]. Enjoy!
What we will be learning this week:
Math: This week in math we will learn how to add and subtract money using decimals. Use this website to practice this skill: http://www.ixl.com/math/grade-3/add-and-subtract-decimals.
Literacy: This week in Literacy we will learn how to express our views about a book by supporting our opinions with specific details from the text. We will write a book review about The Iron Man in order to show what we have learned.
IPC: This week in IPC we will learn about how to draw conclusions from observations in our milk science experiment. We will also check our initial predictions to see how accurate our predictions were. Later in the week we will learn about the importance of food safety and create food safety plans for our restaurants.
Spelling: As Spelling City has been working so successfully in many classes in the school, we have purchased an upgrade from a free to a premium license. This allows students to do even more using this website to build their spelling and vocabulary skills. It also allows me to keep track of their progress.
Because the site is more personalized, the way to access it has changed. Each student will now have a username and password to login with at spellingcity.com. I will send this information home on Monday.
This week three practice assignments have been set. Once you login, you will see a green and blue box that says "Assignments Due". This week they are "Sentence Writing Practice", "Word Unscramble", and "Speedy Speller", Because you can write your sentences online, you no longer need to keep a spelling journal unless you still want to practice your words this way.

Last week we learned the seven steps to the scientific method. Here we are setting up our milk experiment after we asked questions, came up with a hypothesis, made a list of the materials that were needed, and wrote the procedure of how to carry out the experiment.
